Episode 7 & 8 Show Notes

Vaccines are often cited by the World Health Organization and CDC as the single greatest medical achievement of the 20th Century. Everywhere we look, advertisements, news articles, and pamphlets/fliers at doctors offices inform us of the need for some kind of vaccine. Most of the information we consume is positive towards vaccination, and the only side effects we hear of are sore arms at the injection site, but is that the whole story?

Why are there groups of people who believe vaccines can cause harm and even on occasion something as serious as death? Is there any validity to either side’s claims? Are vaccines really responsible for the near eradication of several infections diseases or are other factors involved such as better sanitation, antibiotics, refrigeration, and improvements in our quality of life? Can vaccines really be partly responsible for the increase in childhood ailments such as increased allergies, Autism, ADHD, and more?

In these two episodes, we discuss both sides of this highly controversial topic giving respect to both viewpoints. We hope you can learn more about vaccines in the process as well as how to talk kindly to others who disagree with you. Thank you for listening.

Pro-Vaccine

The Pro-Vaccine side is rooted in these main beliefs:

Vaccines are the greatest medical achievement in modern history.
Vaccines are responsible for the eradication or near eradication of several infectious diseases such as smallpox, polio, measles, chickenpox, diphtheria, and pertussis to name a few.
Vaccines are the best defense to combating and minimizing the mortality rate of said diseases
Vaccines prevent a person from getting the disease.
Vaccines are completely safe and effective.
There’s no need to question the safety or efficacy of vaccines, they have a history of working well with little to no side effects, or harm.
If our population does not have high vaccine rates, then “preventable” diseases become pandemic.
The medical science and literature behind the safety and efficacy of vaccines is sound and non-debatable. It would be like trying to debate on whether the earth is round or not.
The CDC and FDA have our health as their number one priority and are a trusted source of information with little to no corruption or conflict of interest with the manufacturers of the vaccines…
People who chose to not get vaccinated are anti-vaccination and selfish, uninformed, uneducated people who believe in conspiracy theories.
Vaccines have no association with Autism. The science is clear on that.
Exemptions to vaccines should be abolished. The government should mandate everyone be vaccinated.

The Values I see behind these beliefs are:

Value governmental oversight in health and wellness
Value safety from disease
Value life and quality of life

Pro-Vaccine Choice

The Pro-Life side is rooted in these main beliefs:

Vaccines are medical interventions that requires informed consent to weigh the benefits against the risks.
Vaccines are not completely safe or effective.
There are many doctors, nurses, and highly educated people who have reviewed scores of data that puts into question the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
The pharmaceutical companies that produce vaccines should be held liable for the severe injuries caused by their products. Currently, a person cannot sue them if a person is severely injured or killed from their product.
Children’s immune systems are fragile during the early stages of life and vaccines should be administered with careful planning and care to avoid unnecessary adverse reactions.
Vaccines or any other medical intervention should not be made mandatory. To do so is a human rights violation.
While there are benefits to vaccines, there is also real harm caused from adverse events. These adverse reactions have debilitated, disabled, and eliminated many lives over the lifespan of vaccines. These are real stories of real people with real harm.
Pharmaceutical companies have been caught lying and falsifying data around vaccine safety and efficacy, erasing their trustworthiness.
There is a lot of evidence linking certain vaccinations to autism and more non-biased research is needed to make a clear determination.
The safety studies for Vaccines do not use actual placebos in the test studies. They use another vaccine. This is not science.
People are not given all of the information surrounding the risk of the vaccine at the time of vaccination.
There are multiple levels of conflicts of interest and alleged fraud between the vaccine industry and the governmental organizations tasks with regulating them.

Mercury Toxicity – As of 2010

.5 parts per billion (ppb) of mercury kills human neuroblastoma cells.
2 ppb of mercury is the US EPA’s limit for mercury in drinking water.
20 ppb of mercury destroys neurite membrane structure
200 ppb of mercury is the level in liquid that EPA classifies as hazardous waste.
25,000 ppb of mercury is the concentration in the hepatitis B Vaccine administered at BIRTH in the U.S. from 1990 – 2001
50,000 ppb of mercury is the concentration in multidose DTaP and Hib vaccines, administered four times each in the 1990’s to children at two, four, six, twelve, and eighteen months of age, it is also the current “preservative” level in multidose flu vaccines (in 94% of the supply), meningococcal vaccines, and tetanus vaccines (for children age seven and older). This can be confirmed by analyzing the multidose vials.
